Introduction: Coronavirus infection (SARS-COV2) is potentially fatal, being a major public health problem worldwide. Its rapid spread and number of infected worldwide led the WHO to declare a pandemic.
Method: review of current literature comparing with articles from reviews of topics in electronic search in databases of RIMA, MEDLINE, PUB-MED, MEDSCAPE, from 2019-2020.
Results: This disease has required special attention and protective measures in order to reduce transmission, in addition, the increased risks in susceptible populations must be taken into account, including the elderly, children, immunosuppressed, health care providers, among others. In this review, we highlight the symptoms, epidemiology, transmission, pathogenesis, phylogenetics, and precautions to control the spread of this disease with an emphasis on the pediatric age.
