Introduction: Pityriasis rosea is an acute and self-limited inflammatory papulosquamous disease that corresponds to approximately 2% of dermatological consultations. Its etiology has not been exactly identified and it is believed that it could be due to viral infections. Since the start of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, an increase in cases had been reported. Objective: To report a case that shows pityriasis rosea as a late cutaneous manifestation of the SARS-CoV-2 virus to contribute to the theory of its possible viral etiology. Case report: A 12-month-old patient with a history of prematurity begins with febrile upper respiratory symptoms, therefore an antigen test is performed that turns out positive for SARS-CoV-2. Once the respiratory symptoms are resolved, the appearance of multiple isolated erythematous macules on the legs, arms and face stands out, which were consistent with the diagnosis of atypical pityriasis rosea. Conclusions: Pityriasis rosea is a skin manifestation of unknown etiology whose incidence has increased during the COVID-19 pandemic. This case provides evidence that pityriasis rosea could be a consequence of viral infections, and can manifest specifically as a consequence of a SARS-CoV-2 infection.
